Jerry Frye, founder of Fryes Fishing, is a dedicated Northern California fishing guide with decades of experience on the water. Raised in the heart of the region’s outdoors, Jerry’s deep connection to the Sacramento River and Trinity River has shaped his expertise as a premier guide. From a young age, he explored the mountains, rivers, and lakes around Redding, developing a lifelong appreciation for fishing in these scenic and fish-rich waterways.
Over the years, Jerry’s passion for fishing grew from a personal pursuit into a professional calling. What started as a part-time guiding service in 2000 became a full-time venture in 2012, allowing Jerry to share his skills and local knowledge with anglers year-round. He is known for helping clients land King salmon, Pacific steelhead, striped bass, and trophy rainbow trout throughout Northern California. Whether you're an experienced fly angler or just starting out, Jerry’s patient, instructional style ensures an enjoyable day on the water.
Highly regarded among fly fishing enthusiasts, Jerry Frye specializes in guiding trips on the Lower Sacramento and Trinity Rivers. With over 40 years of hands-on fishing experience, he tailors each charter to the season and the species, offering expert instruction on fly fishing, spin casting, and drift techniques. Jerry’s mission is to connect every guest with memorable catches in the best fishing spots California has to offer.
The Boats: Designed for Your Ultimate Fishing Experience
Fryes Fishing operates with two custom boats to accommodate a variety of fishing conditions. The first is a 20-foot Jetcraft motorboat powered by a 150HP Honda engine—ideal for covering wide stretches of the Sacramento River and comfortably seating groups. For stealthy river access and precision casting, Jerry also uses a 17-foot FishCraft drift boat outfitted with a 15HP Mercury engine. Each vessel is fully equipped with premium rods, tackle, and safety gear to ensure a smooth, productive day on the water.
